Today we have 2 00:00:25.780 --> 00:00:32.240 an important theme and an exciting one about the time to prophesy. 3 00:00:34.540 --> 00:00:43.110 Now this title comes out of the book of Revelation from chapter 4 00:00:43.110 --> 00:00:50.950 10 where there's a story of an angel that John sees, 5 00:00:51.310 --> 00:00:58.790 a mighty angel standing with one foot on the sea and one foot on the earth and he has 6 00:00:59.360 --> 00:01:06.230 a message. In fact, he has a solemn message and he makes a sworn 7 00:01:07.770 --> 00:01:15.610 oath “and he swear by him that liveth forever and ever”, and he continues to 8 00:01:16.100 --> 00:01:23.860 describe him, “that there should be time no longer.” So this mighty angel 9 00:01:24.020 --> 00:01:30.240 that's described is talking about the end of time. 10 00:01:32.290 --> 00:01:40.020 And in his other hand, he has one hand raised in the oath, and in his other hand he has a little 11 00:01:40.020 --> 00:01:47.800 book open. And that little book was given 12 00:01:48.240 --> 00:01:51.420 to John and he was told to eat the book. 13 00:01:52.590 --> 00:01:59.580 “And I took the little book out of the angel's hands and ate it up and it was in my mouth sweet as honey. 14 00:02:00.800 --> 00:02:08.330 And as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.” Now this refers 15 00:02:08.470 --> 00:02:14.250 to a historic event. 16 00:02:16.680 --> 00:02:24.420 In the 1840s there was a movement that came out of an understanding 17 00:02:24.590 --> 00:02:30.170 of that little book, because that little book refers to Daniel, 18 00:02:31.180 --> 00:02:38.940 especially this prophecy from Daniel chapter 8 where “he said unto me unto 19 00:02:39.920 --> 00:02:47.890 2,300 days then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Now 20 00:02:47.930 --> 00:02:55.910 this prophecy is clearly a time prophecy and there was 21 00:02:55.910 --> 00:03:04.020 a man by the name of William Miller who was a deist but he converted 22 00:03:05.200 --> 00:03:12.880 to a Baptist and eventually became a minister and he was studying to prove out 23 00:03:12.960 --> 00:03:15.200 his faith. He was studying the Bible. 24 00:03:16.350 --> 00:03:24.290 And he came to that passage with the 2,300 days and he wanted to understand it. 25 00:03:24.650 --> 00:03:31.310 And he researched, he studied it, and he came to the conclusion 26 00:03:32.420 --> 00:03:40.270 that it was a time prophecy ending in his days, just some years in advance of 27 00:03:40.270 --> 00:03:41.710 that time when he was studying it. 28 00:03:43.580 --> 00:03:51.430 And as he first convinced himself about its truth and then later began to write about 29 00:03:51.430 --> 00:03:59.360 it and share that message, there was a great Advent awakening that took 30 00:03:59.450 --> 00:04:06.640 place where many people began to gather together and they would hear 31 00:04:07.430 --> 00:04:14.760 the words of ultimately this time prophecy. 32 00:04:15.290 --> 00:04:22.980 And it was based on that, not only that 2,300 days, but also other time 33 00:04:22.980 --> 00:04:31.460 prophecies pointing to that same time that would conclude in 1844. 34 00:04:34.700 --> 00:04:39.140 Now it was a very sweet message for them. 35 00:04:39.670 --> 00:04:43.020 It was the second coming of Jesus. 36 00:04:43.240 --> 00:04:45.490 Everybody was anticipating it. 37 00:04:45.530 --> 00:04:51.030 They were looking forward to that. But October 22nd came and went and it 40 00:05:08.070 --> 00:05:10.830 seemed as though the prophecy had failed. 41 00:05:12.590 --> 00:05:16.960 And it was indeed bitter in their belly. 42 00:05:17.150 --> 00:05:24.850 After being digested, the message after the time came, it then 43 00:05:25.460 --> 00:05:31.490 had a bitter effect in them because of that disappointment. 44 00:05:34.310 --> 00:05:41.020 So that is what is described in the Bible in chapter 10 when it talks about the eating of the little book that was sweet 45 00:05:41.020 --> 00:05:43.170 in the mouth and bitter in the stomach. 46 00:05:43.170 --> 00:05:50.390 It was prophesying this experience that God knew in advance would happen to the people. 47 00:05:52.650 --> 00:06:00.170 The very next verse in that chapter after his belly turned bitter it says, 48 00:06:00.430 --> 00:06:08.340 and he said unto me, the angel speaking, “he said unto me, thou must prophesy again before 49 00:06:08.340 --> 00:06:15.640 many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.” So there was then to follow 50 00:06:16.390 --> 00:06:23.990 another prophecy. And it's clear from the context that this must be 51 00:06:24.660 --> 00:06:31.990 a time prophecy. The first one was the little book about Daniel and the 52 00:06:31.990 --> 00:06:39.480 2300 days. And this is all in the context of the angel who's swearing there shall be time no longer. 53 00:06:40.180 --> 00:06:46.700 Well, their experience, which ended up bitter in their belly, 54 00:06:48.200 --> 00:06:55.110 was then not the end. So the angel says, you must prophesy again, 55 00:06:55.980 --> 00:06:59.110 prophesy a time message again. 56 00:07:01.430 --> 00:07:08.720 Now, when people think of a time message, especially Christians today, 57 00:07:10.740 --> 00:07:14.370 there's usually one verse that comes quickly to mind. 58 00:07:15.530 --> 00:07:23.180 And that is, there's a few verses that fit, “but of that day and 59 00:07:23.290 --> 00:07:27.940 that hour knoweth no man.” Everybody stands behind that and says, 60 00:07:29.070 --> 00:07:31.830 we have no knowledge of the time. 61 00:07:32.580 --> 00:07:39.440 And they defend that many times in every video that they make or any communication, 62 00:07:39.760 --> 00:07:47.530 oh, we don't know the time, nobody knows the time, based on a misunderstanding of what Jesus said 63 00:07:47.770 --> 00:07:53.060 in these verses. “Of that hour, of that day and hour knoweth no man, 64 00:07:53.120 --> 00:07:59.440 or no man maketh known. No, not the angels which are in heaven, 65 00:07:59.590 --> 00:08:06.600 neither the Son, but the Father.” So it's the Father alone who, 66 00:08:07.300 --> 00:08:15.220 Jesus said, knows the time.
